Once a year, you should take your pet in for a check-up. One of our doctors will check the health of your pet from head to tail. This will include a full physical exam to feel for any abnormalities, check the heart and lungs, and give you any estimates for preventative care that your pet may require so they can stay happy and healthy. You will be extremely happy you came to Vistancia Animal Hospital for all of your pet's needs.
During the annual exam, we recommend annual blood work to check the overall health of your pet. This also includes annual Heartworm testing and Heartworm Prevention, as well as fecal tests which are analyzed at the lab for internal parasites. Bring in any medical history you have for your pet when you come for your first visit so that we can update our reminder system, and help take the stress off your shoulders about when they are due next. It's best to keep a journal of your pet's health throughout his or her life, including behavioral shifts, seizure activity, and even weight history. If you have something like this, share it with our team. If not, let us know everything that you think will be important. After evaluating the history of your pet, we will start or continue to keep your pet fully vaccinated against contagious diseases.
In some circumstances, our doctors will refer you to a specialist who has advanced expertise in areas such as internal medicine or surgery. The information contained in this site is not intended to replace a physical examination by a licensed veterinarian. If you think your pet is ill, please contact Vistancia Animal Hospital right away.
